Mr. Michael Sulyha, long-time dragon boat enthusiast and cancer survivor, is again appealing for volunteers to join both men’s and mixed cancer survivors teams to race in the 2025 Ottawa and Carleton Place Dragon Boat Festivals.
From Michael Sulyha…
We are beginning our planning for the 2025 Dragon Boating season. Below is a draft schedule for Great Big C men’s cancer survivors’ team. Of course we will be adding interested paddlers to the mix. Speaking of mixed.... we are going to try and build a brand NEW mixed Cancer Survivor team! This will open things up to have women who have survived or are fighting various types of cancer join us. Paddlers from Great Big C will qualify to paddle on both teams but more on that in upcoming weeks.
Some great news for the upcoming season :
Ann Raymond will be returning as our coach! Thank you, Ann. Sarah, Diane and I will be returning to steer, call and help organize our team.
Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa PCSO will once again be generously sponsoring the team! This really is amazing, and we can't thank them enough! In addition, we have already received word that Kent Browne of Royal LePage TEAM Realty has stepped up for a second year to sponsor our new Mixed team $750!
We are recruiting now so if you know of someone that may be interested and qualify as a cancer survivor, have them send me an email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Help spread the word.
