Our Guest Speaker Marc Séguin

Topic: Advocacy in Aging – Building your team for life transitions
We are all living longer, with a significant likelihood of some reduction in our ability to operate independently, caused by natural aging, life events, or illness. By planning for the unplanned, and building a team of advocates, it is possible to ensure continuity and consistency in the management of financial, physical and mental affairs.
Marc introduces the PACT (Plan-Activate-Communicate-Transition) planning framework, allowing all to live with peace of mind, knowing affairs are well organized, communicated and ready for transition to trusted advocates.
Marc is a cancer survivor of 30+ years and the author of Advocacy In Aging, a book about estate and healthcare planning for the living years.
Marc has helped many families including his own, plan for and deal with the inevitable changes in life, triggered by unplanned events or aging. These experiences have enabled him to crystallize an approach, in everyday language, to maintaining continuity in financial affairs and personal care.
Among many publications, Marc was recently featured in the Globe & Mail, in a Q&A interview with Rob Carrick titled “Thoughts for people who love managing their money, but worry about advancing age”
Marc, a father of 3 boys, lives in Ottawa, and is an avid skier and loves the outdoors.
Regular PCS Ottawa Meetings
Unless otherwise noted, we hold Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa’s regular monthly meetings at the Maplesoft-Jones Cancer Survivorship Centre [Map] on the third Thursday of each month. We don’t hold meetings in the months of July and August, except for our ever-popular annual BBQ on the third Thursday of August.
We offer most of our meetings in hybrid format, allowing you to attend either in person or virtually. Watch our Meetings and Events website page or your e-mail inbox for meeting locations and specific registration instructions.
We normally start our meetings with a social gathering at 6:30 pm, followed at 7:00 pm with brief business announcements, followed by either a guest speaker or a sharing session.
