PCSO Meeting 19 January 2023 – Change of In-person Venue

Our next PCSO meeting will feature guest speaker Dr. Mark Corkum, radiation oncologist at the Ottawa Hospital.  The in-person part of this hybrid meeting will move from St Stephen’s Anglican Church to the Maplesoft-Jones Centre of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation (ORCF) on a trial basis.

Our next monthly meeting will be at the Maplesoft-Jones Centre on 19 January 2023. The ORCF is offering us this opportunity at no charge, and their boardroom venue comes fully equipped to facilitate hybrid meetings.

In-Person. The ORCF meeting room has seating for a maximum of 20 in-person attendees, plus 4 PCSO facilitators, so if you wish to attend in-person, please contact us by e-mail as soon as possible at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Seating will on a first-come, first-served basis until we reach the ORCF limit, and we’ll let you know by return e-mail that you can attend in person. We’ll then notify any additional applicants individually that they may register for the meeting via Zoom at the link above.

Our Guest Speaker Dr. Mark Corkum

Dr. Corkum is a radiation oncologist at the Ottawa Hospital. His topic for the evening will be –

Dr. Mark Corkum portraitProstate brachytherapy in 2023: Separating myths from facts.

The presentation will discuss the many myths and misconceptions about prostate brachytherapy as a treatment option for men with prostate cancer. It also will cover technical advancements in prostate brachytherapy available in Ottawa.

Regular PCS Ottawa Meetings

Unless otherwise stated, Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa’s regular meetings take place at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 930 Watson Street, Ottawa [Map] on the third Thursday of each month except for July and August. There is ample parking at the back of the church.

Our meetings start with a social gathering at 6:30 pm, followed at 7:00 pm with brief business announcements, followed by either a guest speaker or a sharing session.
