The Great Big C and the We Beat U dragon boat teams celebrated their season-ending day of racing and camaraderie, and took away some trophies too.

Our cancer survivors were making waves on the water again, this time on the Mississippi River at the Carleton Place Dragon Boat Festival on September 6th.
Great Big C took gold in the Men's Cancer race, and We Beat U took the gold medal in the Mixed Cancer race. Both boats have Prostate Cancer Survivors on the team. This is their second year participating in this Festival.
See the photos of each group after they received their gold medals and trophy. Also pictured are the boats lined up for the Flower Ceremony with all cancer survivors on board. This ceremony is very moving and recognizes the impact that cancer has on our families in our community. It also demonstrates that there is life after a cancer diagnosis and the value of companionship during this difficult journey.
We also caught a photo of two paddlers from Great Big C horsing around between races to the music from the amazing band "Wild Nashville" that was on site that day.
If you are interested in participating on one of the teams next year, please send an email to Michael Sulyha at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). You will not regret it.
